Book Two Is Happening

That’s right, the follow-up to The Shiver Tree has been picked up!

To say I’m excited that my second book landed a publishing deal would be a shocking understatement, on par with “otters are cute” or “the universe is kinda big.” I’ve had so much fun writing these books that I hope the journey continues for years to come. After all, I have three more Trees for my heroes to find. What adventures will they encounter along the way? I can’t wait to tell you.

But all in good time. Book two, The Whisper Tree, will publish in 2026, at which time I hope to have completed the third book in the series. I’d love to hit a nice publishing cadence that doesn’t create too long of a wait between releases. Can I write a book a year? We will soon find out!

So, what is book two all about? If you have not read The Shiver Tree, I highly recommend you stop reading this right now because spoilers are about to happen. Big time. Seriously, go read (or listen to) The Shiver Tree if you haven’t. This post can wait.

Great, here goes. Book two picks up a month after the events of The Shiver Tree. With an ancient red dragon freshly loosed on the world, Tash has reluctantly departed to take care of family business, and Kiana is about to bid farewell to Aravel and Reyan as they head out to accompany the noble sorcerer. Fear not, their story will also be told. Meanwhile, Kiana reunites with her sister in preparation for joining a new adventuring party. The group turns out to be…eclectic. They’ll have to find a way to work together to stop another Terror from wreaking further havoc on the world.

Where The Shiver Tree was meant to tell my D&D character’s backstory, The Whisper Tree is where the full party finally comes together. While I’ve tried to stay true to the essence of each party member from our game, I have most certainly taken extensive liberties to fit these characters into the books’ world. I love them all and look forward to sharing their adventures with you.
